Coming to the Parish soon
'What we need in the parish is …' or 'Why ever doesn‘t something get done about …' You must surely have made comments like these, or heard them from others - many times. An opportunity to share your thoughts and help the parish to develop is coming your way soon.
The Parish Council has begun the process of developing a Parish Plan which will set out a vision for the parish and provide a realistic strategy for improvement. As residents, you will have your say through a questionnaire that will be distributed early in September. We are currently in contact with local organisations and groups to find out what they would like the questions to focus on. These may include housing, community facilities, recreation and lei-sure, facilities for children, young people and older people, community safety and so on.
The Parish Plan Steering Group will analyse your responses and you will be given the op-portunity to prioritise your ideas which the Council will then take forward as appropriate in consultation with local partners. The plan will be realistic – no guarantees of by-passes for Delabole and St Teath! – and some issues will have to be resolved over a period of time. Having a Plan will ensure that when big, strategic decisions are made, for example by the unitary authority, the wishes of our Parish will be on record and will be considered by the planners and decision makers. If we don‘t have a plan, we could find that choices and con-clusions that affect our Parish have been made in a way that we may not necessarily think is best. We need to make sure our voice is heard. Many parishes have already drawn up Parish Plans and are beginning to see the benefits; indeed, some community funding bodies will no longer support projects unless there is a need identified in the local Plan. For example, in St Neot, a local farm market has been set up and a circular footpath around the village established. In Luxulyan, they are setting up a playing field project. The development of a skate facility and the lowering of speed limits in the parish are underway in St Cleer. But it‘s not all about projects. St Just in Roseland‘s Plan provided weight in discussion with County Highways, and helped to move forward de-bate with the NHS over dentistry provision.
It you‘d like to find out more about the Parish Plan, or if you‘d like to offer your help – maybe in delivering and collecting question-naires, or being on a sub-group to follow up a specific aspect – please contact Grace Keat, grace@keat.co.uk or tel. 01208 851792.

Parish Council Improvements
Renovated bus shelter April 2007
The bus shelter in St Teath was renovated and looks very smart. The notice board and the whole structure looks much more welcoming.
Public transport is not what it was in St Teath and few travellers are to be seen waiting there! Perhaps its main function is now a public notice facility.
New Seat in Whitewells Road
A well-built seat in a sunny position has been installed by the roadside in Whitewells Road.
June 2007
New Seat in Trevilley Lane
Another new seat of the same design has been installed to replace the broken one in Trevilley Lane near the turning to Trevilley Farm.
March 2008
New Seat in Treligga
A new seat has been installed at Treligga. The notice board needs a repair.
