Christmas Lights

2011

Switch on, December 1, 2011

A large and enthusiastic crowd gathered in The Square for this traditional start to the village festive season where they were entertained by music and carols sung by the choir under the direction of Alan Dawe.

All the fund raising and the erection of the lights is done by a small band of loyal volunteers under the direction of chairman Roger Lyle and the lights committee who would like to thank all those who helped in any way and those who came to support the event.

Fundraising for Lights

5 February 2011

Following damage to the lights by vandals, a fundraising coffee morning was held in the Community Centre on February 5 raising an amazing £272 in just 2 hours. The following pictures give a flavour of this well supported event.

Christmas Lights 2010

2 December 2010

Although temperatures hovered around -1°C a good crowd turned out to see the turning on of the newly upgraded village lights in The Square. Roger Lyle, organiser on the Village Lights Committee, addressed the crowd and thanked all those who had worked at fund raising events throughout the year, braved the bitter weather, and put in over 200 man hours of work to install the lights.
