Requests from St Teath AFC for good weather for their annual carnival were answered. By contrast with the rain over the last two years, it was a warm evening and there were excellent floats and enthusiastic walking participants. Adrian Jasper kindly supplied the photos here.

Simon, from St Teath, became Single Barrel (a clay pigeon shooting discipline) County Champion yesterday. Best of luck at the European DTL (down the line) championships in Wales.

A list of Post Offices in Cornwall proposed for closure or for outreach provision did not include St Teath. No doubt this will come as a great relief to Steve, his staff and St Teath residents. See full list here.

Record rainfall (again)

You couldn't fail to be aware of rain overnight and during the day 8/9 July. We had 58 mm or 2.3 inches in St Teath. This was easily the highest 24 hour rainfall since we started measurements, see records here.

Closure of St Teath Corner Stores

Sadly, Dale Crausby recently closed the St Teath Corner Stores, leaving the village with no newsagent. However, newspapers can be delivered by Nicky and Tracy of St Teath Newspapers. We thank Dale for his service and wish him good luck with his window cleaning. Good luck too to Nicky and Tracy in their new venture.

The flower arrangers excelled themselves on the theme of "Hobbies" and in the church hall the catering team were rushed off their feet. The result was in excess of £3,800 for the church. See report here and photos here.

The Football Club Carnival Committee wish to thank all those who turned up on Saturday night despite the liquid sunshine. Unitary Authority Opinion Poll

12 June 2007

A poll conducted by North Cornwall District Council found that 82.2% of householders who returned their survey forms voted no to a unitary authority (single council) for Cornwall. Only 13% voted in favour. See results here. About 40% of householders responded to the survey.

There were three candidates for Camelot ward, which consists of the parishes of Michaelstow, St Teath and Tintagel. Results Andrew Campbell, Local Conservatives 478 votes Robert William Flower, Independent 648 votes John Lugg, Independent 1180 votes Robert William Flower and John Lugg were elected to fill the two vacant seats. There was a 41% turnout for this election. See here for more details.
